8/2 - The latest news on PVR from the Prescott Courier Newspaper - Prescott Valley Raceway, which holds its events at Yavapai Downs, was forced to cancel its races last weekend and now it's doubtful that there will be any more for the rest of the season due to Yavapai Downs' bankruptcy.

"The bankruptcy court effectively shut down Prescott Valley Raceway and terminated the lease," said attorney Jeff Adams, who represents Prescott Valley Raceway. "The primary concern that they had asserted was liability for continued operations out there, because there is a common access roadway that is shared by the facility between the YCFAA (The Yavapai County Farm & Agriculture Association) and Prescott Valley Raceway.

Adams added, "The bankruptcy trustee was concerned about if people were traveling on that road to go to the Prescott Valley Raceway or leaving from the Prescott Valley Raceway traveling across the property, they could get in an accident or someone could get injured and they could assert a claim against the bankruptcy estate that would rise to the top of the list of priority creditors."

There were also concerns about liability related to the operations of the racetrack, including crashes during a race and fan or worker related injuries.

"If those injuries happen, then a claim against the bankruptcy estate could accrue to the landlord of the bankruptcy estate," Adams said. "So, they shutdown the raceway and terminated the lease."

When asked if Prescott Valley Raceway could reopen before the end of the season, Adams said, "That's probably unlikely."

The bankruptcy courts and trustee would have to approve a motion to reopen the raceway.

Adams wouldn't comment on whether or not PVR plans to fight the ruling.

"I really am not at liberty to discuss what action we are taking at this point," he said.

7/29 - Racing at Prescott Valley Raceway has been CANCELLED until further notice. Management of Prescott Valley Raceway has informed us that due to circumstances beyond their control there will be no racing at the track this weekend, and beyond, until further notice. Please keep checking this site or the PVR web site.

The track was fast with room to work the bottom or ride the cushion in the high line. Dunn ran right in the middle and kept Comley behind him while Pat Henesey, Rick Haase, Tim Cotherman, and Mike Williams worked through traffic to try for the lead. With open real estate up front #67 Mike Dunn had the best seat in the house, he lead every lap and dethroned Mike Williams from the Prescott Valley throne! With no serious cautions a fun time was had by all! Brian Comley, Mike Williams, Tim Cotherman, Rick Haase, David Cooke Jr., Helen Henesey, Melanie Williams, Mike Moyer and AJ Breu rounded out the top 10 for the night! Next race at Thunder Raceway on June 25th. See everyone up there!!

6/4 - The wind died down just in time for some great NADCAR action at Prescott Valley Raceway Saturday night.
#12 Pat Henesey out ran, Matt Decker, Tim Cotherman and Randy Deines to secure the first heat victory of the night. Starting from the outside front row Mike Williams was able to launch past his wife Melanie to take the heat win followed by a racey David Cooke Jr and Melanie Williams. First time heat Winner Rick Haase, all the way from Show Low drove to an early lead in the 3rd heat. He out ran the quick rookie out of Prescott Valley, #45 Jeremy Moyer and #99x Rob Denies.
The Show Low guys, Randy Deines and Rick Haase lead the field down to the green flag for the Main Event. With side by side action all over the track Mike Williams took advantage of the his favorite highest line and drove to the front of the pack by time the first caution flag came out. Mike Moyer, Cotherman and Pat Henesey settled for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots with David Cooke showing off his skills, holding on to the 5th position! Rick Haase, Mike Bracy, Melanie Williams, Helen Henesey, and Matt Decker took the final top 10 spots for the night!
Thank you to our new NADCAR Corporate sponsors out of the White Mountain Area, Bobby Jo's Cafe and Snap on Tools of Show Low!! E & E Services signed on for their 2nd year of sponsorship also!

5/27 - The Memorial Day Weekend 2 Day Show was a success with 24 cars showing to battle for 2 days of racing. Pat Henesey Wins
Pat Henesey wins Race #5 @ Thunder Raceway 5/21/2011

5/21 - NADCAR’s opening night at Thunder Raceway brought 21 cars from Arizona with New Mexico's 3NM car of Russ Maurer bringing the field to 22. The JBJ Trucking Trophy Dash started the night with Helen Henesey taking advantage of the front row start to gain the 1st place position, holding off the aggressive #90 Randy Deines to claim the first trophy of the year. Thunder Raceway put together a smooth track, but passing was difficult if you got too much out of the groove. Pill draw gave 3 Heneseys positions in the front of the first heat. Pat Henesey jumped ahead taking the first spot followed up by Ryan & Helen and Rat Stafford bringing in the 4th spot. Neil Etter grabbed his first heat win of the year with Tim Cotherman and John Ogden finishing out the top 3. Heat 3 brought the stands to their feet, #G4, George Cooke took the early lead with Frank Phillips working the outside and looking to the inside for a place to pass. Frank found his opportunity coming out of 4 to take the checkered flag by a bumper just ahead of Cooke!! Russ Maurer and Black Diamond auto Glass's Jason Craner finished up in the top 4 positions.
The Main event started with Pat Henesey and #43 Tim Cotherman in the front row and pretty much remained that way for all the laps. Tim tried high and low to get the lead, but the yellow truck was able to keep the best line and pull off a win with Tim in 2nd and Ryan Henesey making it 3 wide for a very close finish. Helen Henesey and John Ogden followed for the top 5, with Rick Godsey, AJ Breu, Rat Stafford, Seth Gaston and Neil Etter rounding out the top 10.

5/14 - Nineteen anxious drivers gathered at Prescott Valley Raceway to entertain the fans and compete for the coveted K&N Custom Concrete & Landscape Sponsored Trophies. AJ Breu grabbed the first heat win over the JBJ Trucking's Tim Cotherman and C&C Auto's Randy Deines. Heat 2 saw a mid race tight battle between the "North Shores" John Ogden holding off Mike Williams with E & E Services Rick Haase finishing 3rd. Mike Moyer and David Cooke Jr. sliced and diced in the final Heat and Cooke Jr. took the win with the AZ Concrete Cutting truck of Melanie Williams Finishing 3rd. The main event started with Cooke Jr. on the pole position and Breu on the outside, but unfortunately the race took an immediate red flag with a massive wreck claiming several cars and trucks. With the race re-starting in its original formation, Cooke Jr.'s Crescent Moon Cycles powered ride immediately proved it was to be contended with taking the lead over #93 Breu and #39 Melanie Williams. It took little time for Cable Ones John Ogden and AZ Concrete's Mike Williams to work their way to the front. After a couple of yellows Mike overtook Cooke Jr. for the lead with Ogden in tow. With 5 laps to go and the rookies of Grant Williams, Jeremy Moyer, Bugs Haliburton, Erin Deines and Samantha Cotherman challenging each other for position, Caleb Presnal got air born on the backstretch thrilling the fans and brought out the second red flag. With a couple of laps remaining, the AZ Concrete Cutting Truck of Mike Williams once again closed out the race to be the victor of the night over Cooke Jr. in 2nd, Ogden 3rd, Melanie 4th, Josh Randal 5th. Closing out the top ten was AJ Breu 6th, Rookie of the year contender Grant Williams 7th, steady running Jeremy Moyer 8th, Mile High's Keith Herring 9th and "Dirt Turn'n" Bugs Halibuton 10th. Honorable mention goes to Erin Deines 11th and the 12th finishing car of Samantha Cotherman as they finished unscathed and steady on a fast track. We hope to see you all on May 21 for the first race at Thunder Raceway in Show Low!! (Thanks to guest writer #93 Aj Breu! )

And on a side note....

To everybody who came up to me after the race,

Now that it is Sunday Night and I have had a chance to assess the damage, the only thing that I can complain about is a little soreness around the tops of my shoulders (were the belts grabbed me).  The 99 car is, well let us just say it will need some parts.  I really would like to thank the track crew for their response, they are top notch.  Finally thanks to everybody who came over to make sure that I was not hurt.  I hope to see everybody at the track soon.

Thanks,

Caleb Presnal

P.S.

Did anyone get pictures or video?  I didn't see that much from where I was sitting.

5/4 - Thunder Raceway has invited the NADCAR drivers to come out for a practice / non point race May 7th. Races start at sun down. Get in some good practice laps before our first points race at Thunder Raceway! Please call or email with any questions!

4/23 - NADCAR gave the Prescott Valley race fans another great show! We had a full field and a lot of action! #56 Jack Defibaugh out drove his Dad, #54 Fred Defibaugh in the first heat to secure the first win of the night. The 2nd heat had Mike Williams driving his #1 car to the front of the pack out running, Brian Comley, Randy Durta and his wife Melanie Williams. Mike Moyer lead from the pole position to the checkered flag of the 3rd heat, Mike Dunn and David Cook Jr. put on a great show finishing in the 2nd and 3rd place positions! Strong competition filled the main event line up. Low averages from #46 Mike Moyer and #12 Pat Henesey gave them the front row for the start of the race. Moyer got a great start ahead of Henesey and the rest of the field. The battle was tough from 3rd to 12th with battles breaking out everywhere! The Defibaughs were slowly working through the pack, Williams diced through the field, #71 David Cook maneuvered the low line to gain positions every lap. The Halliburton Bro's were dicing every lap along with the Kingman drivers Caleb Presnal and Shawnie Berry! The rookie battle is going to be a good one this year! Williams used the caution laps to his advantage gaining spots with every restart. He eventually got around Moyer and grabbed the 1st K & N Custom Concrete and Lanscape victory at Prescott Valley. Fred Defibaugh and Mike Moyer put on a great show with Defibaugh edging just ahead of Moyer for the 2nd position. P. Henesey, Cotherman, J. Defibaugh, Breu, H. Henesey, Haase and Melanie Williams finished out the top 10. Next race is May14th at PVR. See you all there!

4/18 - The first race at PVR is finally here! We've had a great season so far, lets keep it going!! Mike Williams Wins!
Mike Williams takes checkers @ Round 2

4/2 - It was another warm night of racing for NADCAR saturday night at Mohave Valley Raceway. 17 dwarf cars were hauled from all over AZ to compete in the action! Mike Williams', AZ Concrete Cutting Truck and Pat Henesey's, Coconino Motors Truck battled side by side for the first heat win of the night. Williams took advantage of Henesey's poor muffler choice and powered by Henesey on the straight-away to take the win. The women of NADCAR started in the front of Heat #2, Helen Henesey got an early jump on Melanie Williams to enter turn 1. The battle was tight with Henesey leading, Williams in 2nd and Heather Henesey in 3rd. Helen ran away with the win with Heather taking 2nd after Melanie tagged the turn 4 wall. Jeremy Moyer had a great run finishing 3rd! After 2 flat tires on the way to the track Mike Moyer still managed to score his first heat win, just ahead of the battle for 2nd between JBJ Trucking's Tim Cotherman and C&C Auto Repair's Randy Deines. NADCAR's points average invert worked against us this race! After bad luck races last week by Pat Henesey and Mike Williams they landed the front row for the main event! The track was smooth, dry and fast. The middle and high groove allowed for side by side racing and the drivers of NADCAR were ready to battle! Williams took off to a quick lead ahead of Pat Henesey. Helen Henesey jumped into 2nd, someone had to run down Williams and she accepted the challenge! The battle was tight from 3rd to 10th, cars were side by side, testing the limits on the high line, and throwing slide jobs from the bottom line! With 3 cautions for the night Helen Henesey was all over Williams but couldn't get the job done! Williams grabbed his first win of 2011 with Pat Henesey, Heather Henesey taking 2nd and 3rd. Melanie Williams had an awesome run driving all the way up to 4th with Randy Deines rounding out the top 5. The rookie battle for 2011 is ON! Grant Williams out of Prescott is edging just ahead of Erin Deines in the points. Caleb Presnal #99 might be a rookie to look out for? He proved he his skills in his first race out, finishing in the 7th position.

The 3rd Points race for NADCAR will be at PVR on April 23rd. Scales will be available at the track before the race. Please come early so we can complete tech.

Tim Cotherman Wins Nadcar Opener
Tim Cotherman wins the NADCAR season opener

3/19 - The first race of the year turned out better than imagined. Mohave Valley Raceway provided NADCAR with a smooth and tacky track for the whole night. Pat Henesey took an early lead with his daughter Heather and wife Helen very close behind. 3 laps in Pat burned the clutch up and pulled off the track letting the battle in sue between the 2 girls! Heather took the white flag and cautiously drove the last lap not prepared for the dive bomb coming her way! Helen threw it in hard in turn 3 and rolled up a bumper ahead to take the win, Rick Haase finished 3rd just ahead of Randy Deines. The 2nd heat had two hot shots on the front row, Mike Williams and Tim Cotherman. Mike sailed around the track to clinch his first heat race of 2011. JBJ Trucking driver Tim Cotherman and Veteran racer Storm Phillips rounded out the top 3! The track stayed fast for the main event! Williams and Phillips led the field to the green flag. Williams was out of the race quick with a snapped axle, so Cotherman took advantage and dove into the 1st place position ahead of Phillips, Haase, and Helen Henesey. There were battles throughout the track! The newest rookie Grant Williams and his Grandpa Morley Williams were battling side by side for the 7th position most of the race. (Yes!! We did have 3 generations of drivers on the track doing battle,Grant, Mike and Morley!!) Phillips and Haase were splitting traffic every other lap and Heather Henesey did battle with Randy Deines throughout the green to checkered event! Cotherman showed his skills and took the 1st win of the season! Storm Phillips, Rick Haase, Heather Henesey and Randy Deines rounded out the top 5. The rookie battle was tough for the first race of the season. Grant Williams edged out just ahead of Erin Deines and Ed Halliburton! Should be a fun season! See everyone at the next MVR race 4/2/2011.
